Biography

It doesn’t take just a golden voice to be a successful deejay. One should add to that voice a generous sprinkling of personality plus and you’re likely to win a whole city that’s truly tuned in, consistently connected, and gloriously glued in to the radio station that has swept all of Miami off its feet. We’re talking about Khaled Khaled whose fall event, Birthday Bash, got the whole of Miami jigging and jagging. Born of Arabic parents in New Orleans, DJ Khaled was the middle of three children. His love for music showed at age 14 and that one factor alone led him to follow the straight path to radio success. His style as a deejay was to throw parties on college radio; people started hearing him and liking what they heard they swept him over to Mixx 96 and 99 Jamz. You think it ended there?

Not quite. Bigger and better things had yet to come!

Mixx 96 dominated Miami’s air waves when DJ Khaled took over the helm and for two years he did every trick in the book to earn him the status of South Florida’s official voice – the one and only voice. Not satisfied with his Mixx 96 victory, he made moves to take over 99 Jamz and hence teamed up with K-Foxx. These days his show enjoys # 1 position in all of South Florida.

Being a deejay listening to music all day, Khaled soon developed his own style and started preparing for his debut album devoted entirely to hip hop. He believes this genre of music is here to stay forever because of its universal application – “everything and everywhere”, he once remarked. The album will feature talents like Lil Wayne, Juelz Santana and Fat Joe, and will echo some qualities from his birthday bash shows. Being a radio man for over 10 years, it was easy for him to become a performer and a deejay at the same time. He has worked in tandem with personalities like Young Jeezy and Trick Daddy. Because of his alliance with the Terror Squad Family, Khaled is confident that his first album will hit the charts and will reign as THE hip hop album of the world.

DJ Khaled was fortunate to spot his gift from God early in life and pursued it relentlessly. He said once that “God gave me a gift…”He sure turned that gift into a golden opportunity, but we know that with his drive and zeal, it won’t be the last opportunity.
