Biography

Beverley Mitchell was born Jan. 22, 1981, in Arcadia, Calif. Unlike other actresses who are discovered through modeling or other glamorous methods, Mitchell was spotted by a talent agent after throwing a temper tantrum alongside her mother in the middle of a shopping mall. She started her acting career at age five, doing commercials for companies such as Oscar Mayer, Cream of Wheat, and Energizer batteries.

Mitchell's first major television series was Big Brother Jake in 1990, which she followed up with 7th Heaven in 1996. But her success as an actress was overshadowed by personal tragedy. Her parents divorced shortly after she landed the role of Lucy Camden, and one year later a close friend died in a car crash.

While working on the small screen, Mitchell managed to attend Loyola Marymount University and study film. She has also started writing music with folk and rock influences. The actress is also involved with several charities, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
